Board Meeting Minutes
May 17, 2003

A meeting of the Jordan Lake Association Board of Directors and District Representatives was held at 7:30 a.m., May 17, 2003, at Richie's Restaurant in Lake Odessa, MI.

Board Members Present:

Call to Order:

President Cary called the meeting to order at 7:40 a.m. The reading of the meeting minutes from February 23, 2002 was waived. President Cary introduced Gary Calkins and welcomed him to the Lake Association. Gary Calkins will represent District #5 with Dave Creguer.

Treasurer's/Membership Report:

The Association has $865 in checking. There are 93 paid members for 2003.

Election of Board Officers:

The nominations for 2003 are:
• President - Mike Cary
  
• Vice-President - Bill Walker
  
• Treasurer - Katy Estes
  
• Secretary - Steve Schuiling

Motion by Gary Calkins, Seconded by Don Acker, to approve the Board Officers as stated. Motion carried.

Weed Control:

Bill Walker updated the Association on the condition of Jordan Lake and possible future plans. He indicated that the Weed Control Board is in the final year of a five-year treatment program managed by PLM. Overall, Bill said that he was pleased with the conditions of Jordan Lake. Members of the Association agreed that the weeds in Jordan Lake are "in check". Walker also stated that the Weed Control Board is in the exploratory phase of aerating the lake. Aeration involves pumping air into the lake in order to replenish oxygen and stabilize temperature levels in the lake. The process of aeration is expensive to purchase and operate.

Parking signs at Public Landing:

Mike Carey will follow through on installing 'No Parking Signs' (along the road) at the public landing.

Summer Splash:

The Second Annual Lake Odessa Summer Splash will be held August 1, 2, and 3. The Jordan Lake Association is sponsoring a Boat Parade. The Parade will begin at 7 p.m. on August 1, 2003. Estes, Walker, Schuiling, and Creguer volunteered to help organize the parade.

Next General Membership Meeting:

The next general membership meeting will be scheduled in July.
