Discussion at the meeting centered on the dam -- its creation and the drain code under which it is maintained. The board fielded questions from those in attendance on the dam, lake levels, and other related issues.
The board decided that since a study of the watershed had not been performed in over fifty years, a proposal should be solicited from an engineering firm as to the scope and cost of a new study. The board also decided to send the proposal request to the firm who did the engineering for the recent dam renovation. The board expected to have the proposal back in their hands within thirty days. If approved, the watershed study would take about 60 to 90 days. Decisions regarding the proposal and study would be reported back via future drain board meetings.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Ionia County Drain Commissioner Bush stated that a Lake Board meeting would be soon forthcoming.
The drain board members applauded the efforts to bring a lake association to a reality.
